Using LinkedIn to Maximize Your Blogging Efforts
A guest post by Patsy from Go-Gulf.com.
LinkedIn is an excellent social media tool. Over the past few years, social media has jumped to the forefront of the marketing world. It has connected millions of people worldwide. So how, as a blogger, can you use LinkedIn to maximize your blogs exposure? Take a look:
- First, jump on in! That’s right; if you’re not registered with LinkedIn then you need to be. Develop a profile that speaks volumes about who you are. This is your first impression to the LinkedIn family so make it good.
- Expand your network. LinkedIn like other social mediums is a powerhouse of people from all walks of life. You can search to find people that may be interested in your blog. When you’ve found some interesting connections, invite them to connect with you on LinkedIn. You not only get them but are then connected to their networks as well.
- Become the expert. By answering questions from your connections or in the forums, you can quickly become the expert that people turn to when they need answers. This is a simple way to gain exposure.
- Be a member of the group. LinkedIn is not only a great way to connect with others individually but there are also numerous groups throughout LinkedIn. Chances are, there is a group that pertains to your niche area. If so, join them and connect with others who have similar interests. If there isn’t a group available then think about starting one. It’s a great way to meet others and brainstorm with those you have things in common with.
- Use web applications and widget s to your LinkedIn profile. One example is a widget that allows you to highlight the title and first few sentences of you blog on our LinkedIn profile. This will allow you to grab the reader’s attention and give them access to your blog.
By utilizing the power of LinkedIn, you are leveraging your blog in a dynamic way. Just as you would network at a dinner function; you also want to network via the worldwide web. Your dinner party has a network of 50 but your web connections have a network of over 100 million and climbing. In the end the goal is to gain your blog valuable exposure, increase your readership and make you the premier expert in your niche market. So take advantage of all the web has to offer.

I just made a LinkedIn, and I think it’s safe to say I have no idea what the hell I’m doing!
I still have to look into it more, but I have done one thing you suggested: get contacts. I have a nice list of about 100 or so people who I’ve connected with before, so it’s a start I guess.
Haha, yes. I just got your connection invite.
I haven’t had the time to set up my LinkedIn account with bio info and work experience. I guess I should take my guest blogger’s advice!
You are so right about LinkedIn! I recently started a new blog, featuring tips and tricks that are helping small businesses succeed – Especially during a down economy like this. What I have noticed by utilizing LinkedIn that the quality of the connections I’m making seem to be more business and professional related – opposed to some of the other social networking sites. Love the blog keep up the great work!
I created a LinkedIn account for my job and saw the potential right away connecting with other business leaders.
I need to get on it and make one for myself
