Increase Online Exposure and Business Leads with a Company Blog
It’s no secret that major companies have embraced blogging as a way to boost PR and keep employees and shareholders in the know on company news and activity. Because of this, vaguely described job postings for journalist-blogger-style-new-media-specialists populate the job boards at places like Mashable, Problogger and JournalismJobs.com.
But according to a recent study at Hubspot, businesses who operate blogs can reap much more than just positive PR effects and well-disseminated company news. Much, much more.
The study found that businesses that maintain a blog receive 55% more visitors, 97% more inbound links and 434% more indexed pages. 1,531 company websites (all clients of Hubspot) were examined in the study, 795 of which blogged and 736 of which did not.
The information is probably not very startling to Internet marketing vets but to businesses looking for online exposure, the facts are clear: blog or die.
The tendency for small local business owners is to ignore blogging completely and to only keep a static website up for simple information purposes (like contact and address information). This mindset is abundantly wrongheaded. Local business owners have the MOST to benefit from maintaining a blog because many people are increasingly using search engines (as opposed to the yellow pages or referrals) to find products and services from local businesses.
For example, a college student who just got a cat and wants to neuter it and get the proper booster shots will search something like “veterinarian middletown NY” or “pet hospital middletown NY.” I know this because I am that example! I also tend to use Google to find local restaurants when I am in the mood for something particular like “italian food middletown” or “seafood middletown,” etcetera. I don’t have an exact number but my guess is that there are many individuals from the web generation that operate the same way I do.
The bottom line is that blogs drastically increase traffic potential. That means more online exposure which ultimately leads to more business leads which ultimately lead to more dollar signs.

Acquiring business leads through digital means certainly is the trend as of late. Still, optimizing b2b lead generation with the use of both digital and offline means can enhance the probability of success for the marketing campaign. One should also try considering outsourced telemarketing services along with the pay per appointment scheme for a more cost efficient take in generating such leads.
Very nice post.
