How to check which version of WordPress you are using
Looking to check which version of WordPress your blog is using?
The answer is right in front of your face.
Seriously, its staring right at you.
Do you want to know where it is?
Then I’ll tell you.
But first I would like to make a point: are you really going to turn to Google to answer all of life’s questions?
And that’s my point.
Now, I will tell you how you can identify which version of WordPress you are using.
It’s really very simple.
It won’t take long.
Don’t click back, you’re almost there.
…
Just navigate to your dashboard and, at the bottom of the Right Now panel in the upper left corner of the page, you will see something like: You are using WordPress 2.9.2.
That wasn’t that hard was it?

lol! …….
I’m very new to wordpress and very old in person thanks for the wordpress version help. I’d just screwed the default kubrick header. I must had changed some of the code in header or stylesheet accidently.
Initially I had my 800 x 200 banner header in there sucessfully but it was high resolution and it loaded slower than the whole page. I stored it in wp/themes/images folder instead of using my header URL for the image hosted elsewhere. I tried to remove the kubricks blue rectangular box in the background and this is where the trouble started.
As I had destroyed the kubricks theme, I reverted to the classic theme as this was the only other theme. My website is self hosted and very new. I do not mind doing up my website from scratch and thought, why not upgrade it first. Of course, I would be most happy if I can upgrade without touching the postings and icons on the left. How do I upgrade in the simplest lay man way and then insert my banner head.
Lots of thanks,
Francis Sta Maria
Hey Francis,
You could just delete the theme and then re-upload it. Then I will tell you what you need to do to remove the rectangle without screwing up the theme.
how do i remove the follow two lines from the bottom of the box “right now”

Thanks for this. I’ve been using wordpress for a few years now and had to look this up because I forgot where to find it. It was staring me right in the face!
