Blogtap Contest #1: Win Ad Space, Content w/ Resell Rights, High PR Backlinks Galore

The first official Blogtap contest will begin on June 1st, and end on June 11th. A total of 25 individuals will be awarded prizes.

Warning: You’re eyes may pop out of your head when reading the descriptions for the prizes.

1st Place Grand Prizes

Contest Rules

This contest is all about bum marketing. That means that you will not have to make any monetary sacrifices to compete. The only thing that will separate the losers from the winners is the amount of time and effort they put into the competition.

The winners will gain points from linking to Blogtap through comments, posts, blogrolls, etc. All of the links (including comments) must be dofollow.

The point system works as follows:

Sections that are highlighted describe points you can earn before the contest begins on June 1.

*Sections beginning with an asterisk describe types of points you can earn more than once.

*5 points for dofollow links in blog comments. The links must point to internal pages in Blogtap and NOT the frontpage (www.blogtap.net). The comments must contain at least one keyword of the title of the page linked to. For example, a comment linked to this page must contain at least one word out of “Blogtap Contest #1: Win Ad Space, Content w/ Resell Rights, High PR Backlinks.” The keyword can also be a tag of the post linked to (this may increase your chances of not getting your comments marked as spam). For example, this page can have the word “contest” because it is tagged as contest.

70 points for blogroll links. Just add Blogtap.net to your blogroll and earn 70 points! The Blogroll links must be dofollow.

*40 points for links from article directories. You can submit any Blogtap post to an article directory like Ezine and link back to a Blogtap page in the author resource box. The same linking rules apply as for comment links (a word from the title or tag must be in the anchor text of the link). Links must be dofollow.

*40 points for links in blog posts. Link to an internal page in Blogtap (not the frontpage) in a blog post and gain 50 points. The same anchor text rules apply as for comment links (a word from the title or tag must be in the anchor text of the link). Links must be dofollow and can only link from the same page once (you can link to the same Blogtap page as many times as you want). The limit is 5 links per domain.

50 points for subscribing to Blogtap via email to receive free news updates on the wide world of blogging as well as cutting edge resources and tutorials on blogging. You can receive these points if you have already subscribed.

100 points for blogging about this contest before or after the contest begins. You can only earn these types of points once (you cannot gain points from multiple blog posts about this contest). The blog post must contain an explanation of why you are participating in the contest and what prizes you hope to win as well as a link to this post.

50 points for posting a thread on a forum, briefly explaining the contest and providing a link to it. You can earn 50 points for the first thread and 25 for each additional thread on other forums. Example.

25 Points for tweeting this post before or during the contest. Your Tweet will be recorded on a URL generated by Topsy.com. You must use the re-tweet button at the top of this page in order for your tweet to be recorded. You can only gain points from 1 tweet.

25 points for sending an email to contest@blogtap.net before the contest begins to let me know if you are participating. You do not need to send this email to enter the contest, it is only a way of gaining extra points. This is only to give me a good idea of how many people are participating.

You DO NOT need to do anything to enter the contest beforehand. You are automatically entered when you send an email to contest@blogtap.net at the end of the contest including your name and the URLs of all the links you created plus any other information that will gain you points (include the email you used to subscribe to Blogtap if you gained points that way) .

At the end of the contest, I will tally all the points accrued per person and announce the winners in a post on Blogtap. DO NOT send me an email every time you gain more points, send only one email at the end of the contest.

Things that are against the rules:

• Spamming other blogs with comments that contain links to Blogtap. Those who gain points through dofollow link commenting should avoid commenting on only one blog and should post constructive comments that reflect a knowledge of the post commented on.
• Sending emails asking for the score. The points will be tallied up at the end of the contest and only at the end.
• Trying to gain points before the contest begins. The only way you can gain points before the contest begins is by emailing contest@blogtap.net (notifying of participation) and re-tweeting this post. I will check time stamps to make sure links were not created before the contest began and I will disqualify those who attempt to do so.

Advice:

- Although a large chunk of points can be earned before the contest begins (200), and also from blogroll links, the top 6 winners will be the ones that work really hard on recurring point value types (everything with an asterisk *).

- Get as many points as you can before the contest begins. Research ways to gain points before the contest begins.

- There will be 25 winners and all of the prizes are substantial. It wouldn’t hurt to at least enter this contest and gain a few points.

Remember:

You must send an email to contest@blogtap.net when the contest is over and list:

• Your name.
• The URLs of the comments, post, forum threads and any other web pages you have created links on to earn points.
• Any additional information that could earn you points from the specifications above. If you subscribed to Blogtap for 50 points, you must name the email you subscribed with. If you re-tweeted the contest post, you must include your Twitter account name. If you sent an email to contest@blogtap.net before the contest began, you must specify that in your email. You must show proof for all of the points you have earned.

Don’t hesitate to post a comment or use the contact form if you are unclear about any of the rules.

The contest ends at the stroke of midnight (just before the day becomes June 2nd).
